St Mary’s Cathedral is the first in the UK to offer Same-Sex Weddings

St Mary’s Cathedral in Glasgow is the the first in the UK to officially wed same sex couples within the church. It came into effect on the 20th of this month.

This follows the recent vote in General Synod which allowed clergy in the Scottish Episcopal Church to be nominated to conduct gay weddings. Gay couples in the UK are booking to get married in the church.

The Scottish Liturgy (2007) will be used in the service. It has options that allow couples getting married to personalise the service so that it matches who they are and says what they want to say. Information on their church website also states that they will bless a same-sex couple at the time of them registering a Civil Partnership or after entering into a marriage that has been conducted elsewhere.
