Denise Ho denied Performance Permit in Malaysia over LGBT views

Hong Kong singer Denise Ho has cancelled her performance in Malaysia.

This comes after she was denied a performance permit over her views on LGBT issues. Ho had been scheduled to perform in Kuala Lumpur in April.

She shared the news of the cancellation on Twitter alongside her statement.

Malaysia’s communications and multimedia minister Salleh Said Keruak told journalists from the Thomson Reuters Foundation: “Malaysia welcomes any artist who projects a wholesome value” adding that all shows had to be in accordance with “local law and values.”

Denise Ho is also a pro-democracy activist and was name a part of BBC 100 Women in 2016.
