You can lend your voice in solidarity with LGBT+ Egyptians. Here’s how

The Egyptian government hates rainbows.

In fact, waving a rainbow flag can have very serious consequences in Egypt. In September 2017, 75 people were arrested after someone did just that at a concert in Cairo. And last year, at least 76 people were arrested and taken to court, just because authorities assumed they were LGBT+.

It doesn’t have to stay that way. This March, Egypt will be exhibiting at the world’s biggest tourism fair, the ITB in Berlin, Germany. Together we can use this opportunity to bring the rainbow back to Egypt.

All Out, a global movement for love and equality is running a campaign in conjunction with the Alliance of Queer Egyptian Organizations (AQEO) and the German group Aktionsbündnis gegen Homophobie e.V.

By signing the petition, your name will be printed on the solidarity flag for Egypt. Your name will be printed, along with the names of all signers, on a massive rainbow flag and it will be taken to the ITB tourism fair in Berlin in March.

At the tourism fair, the flag will be waved in front of the Egyptian exhibition as a sign of solidarity with all the Egyptians who got arrested for doing just that.
