On July 12, Mambaonline reported a major discriminatory provision in the South Africa’s same-sex marriage law. According to the site, Section 6 of the Civil Union Act allows Home Affairs marriage officers to refuse to marry same-sex couples. This can be counter productive as it means that many couples can be refused based on a marriage officer’s personal beliefs.
