Uzodinma Iweala tackles being Queer and Nigerian in new book, Speak No Evil

Uzodinma Iweala is set to release a new book in March.

 

 

Titled ‘Speak No Evil,’ the book will what it means to be queer and be a Nigerian through the eyes of Niru; a gay top student and track star raised in Washington D.C. but born to Nigerian parents. According to a summary on the Harper Collins website, “explores what it means to be different in a fundamentally conformist society and how that difference plays out in our inner and outer struggles. It is a novel about the power of words and self-identification, about who gets to speak and who has the power to speak for other people.” 

Iweala is the author of the best selling novel, Beasts of No Nation and Our Kind of People, a non fiction book.
