A recap of all that happened at the premiere of ‘We Don’t Live Here Anymore’

After a long wait, We Don’t Live Here Anymore, a film by The Initiative for Equal Rights premiered on the 14th of October in Lagos, Nigeria.

The film stars some of Nigeria’s top actors including Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi, Katherine Obiang, Osas Ighodaro Ajibade, Francis Sule, Temidayo Akinboro and Omotunde ‘Lolo’ Adebowale-David. Directed and produced by Tope Oshin (New Money, Shuga), it takes the audience through the emotional journey of two families forced to confront ‘taboo’ issues and navigate their realities in the society, with an in-depth look at violence, discrimination, and the many struggles faced by persons in the LGBT community.

The premiere played host to some of Nigeria’s finest celebrities including Uti Nwachukwu, Denrele Edun, Shade Ladipo and Ashionye Raccah.

Speaking at the premiere the Executive Producer, Olumide Makanjuola said “The question for me is how can we make the parents better for their children and if the parents understand better, they will create a good atmosphere for their children to be… This is a reality around you but we will go home and think about it.”
