amaXhosa king seeks to stop distribution of ‘The Wound’

Critically acclaimed film, The Wound is not getting love from all sides.

amaXhosa king Zwelonke Sigcawu is seeking to stop the distribution of the film. According to his lawyer, he says there are limits to the extent customs can be exposed.

News24 is reporting that Sigcawu wants to talk to the film producers “amicably” before approaching the courts to avoid its distribution. They added that he plans to file a formal complaint with the Film and Publications Board and that although the king has not seen the film, members of the community have complained about its content.

‘The Wound’ is set to open the Durban Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and will screen at The Film Forum in New York on August 29th.
