Tickets are now available for the Mr Gay World Southern Africa 2017 competition to be held at the Atterbury Theatre on 23 September 2017.
What a night it promises to be! With thirteen hunky delegates, a variety of local talent and a new international star, this is one show not to be missed.
The big news is that LINA will be the headline act for the evening. Lina made history in 2013 as the first Arab to win Israel’s biggest TV Talent show, The Voice. Having impressed all the judges, it was with the people’s vote that she stormed to victory. The American-Palestinian is fluent in five languages, and is much more than a singer, songwriter and star whose life story and achievements are already dramatic, colourful and inspiring.
Within three days of her first appearance on The Voice, she had a quarter of a million views on YouTube, a gigantic number for a country of Israel’s size. She swept to victory and the enormous talent of this Palestinian artist was recognized by an International Israeli born manager Irit TenHengel who signed her to her label Yodan Productions for a world-wide deal.
After the success of her first single “This Ain’t About You” which reached top 10 on both Music-Week’s Club and Pop Charts, her second single, the infectious ‘Dance Sucker’, rose even further to #4 on Music Week’s Official Club Chart. It’s a powerful dance record that is a vibrant reflection of her multi-cultural roots. “Dance Sucker” is a preview of Lina’s new album “Walking on a tightrope” produced by Grammy Award winner Jerry Wonda and new kid on the block, Tal Forer.
Lina has captivated audiences with her powerful voice and live performances which led her to being selected as the opening act for the Legendary band Queen + Adam Lambert in September 2016 in front of an audience of 51,000 people. Lina also turns heads on social media having recently been discovered and lauded by Alicia Keys who shared Lina’s special version of “Holy War” which she made her own with her ethnic influences.
Lina has just performed to thousands at both Tel Aviv and Barcelona Prides.
The Master of Ceremonies for the evening is the well known actor and singer Philip Moolman of Blou Hond fame. Other artists that will grace the stage include singer Jon Delinger, The Croons and Tanja Storm. More artists will be announced in due course.
The script for the production is written by Wim Vorster and the production is being produced by Kosie House of Theatre.
