The face of Pride Jamaica 2016, designer and stylist Dexter Pottinger has been murdered.

His body was found in his home by police on Thursday with multiple stab wounds. Neighbours reported hearing screams in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Pottinger became the face of Pride Week in 2016 and said at the time: “I hope that my participation will show members of J-FLAG that it is okay to come out in an atmosphere where there is no violence, realise that it’s your time to be part of the change—not just for the week but permanently as a part of the community.

Jamaica Gleaner is reporting that the police have confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody and arrangements are now being made for the man to be interviewed in the presence of his attorney.

Tributes are pouring in for Pottinger on Social Media.
