More than 12.7 million people voted in Australia’s same-sex marriage postal survey and 61.6% of the participants voted in favour of legalising same-sex marriage according to the the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
Although 38.4% voted “no” at the polls, ll states and territories recorded vote in favour of change.

According to the BBC, a bill to change the law was introduced into the Senate late on Wednesday and will now be debated for amendments. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said his government would aim to pass legislation in parliament by Christmas.
