Multi-award winning Director of Empire, The Butler and Precious — among several others — Lee Daniels plans to bring a gay superhero to our screens. His star, Dremon Cooper popularly addressed as SuperBitch is a heel wearing, 19-year-old Instagram sensation who showcases incredible martial art skills on the street of Southeast D.C.
Lee Daniels made this announcement in an Instagram video done alongside the star. “Y’all remember maybe 10, 12 years ago I said my dream was to make a gay superhero film? Dreams do come true. And I found my superhero. America, world, get ready.” Lee Daniels said
“10 years ago folks thought I was crazy when I said I wanted to make a gay superhero flick…. It’s not my next one… But, it’s in the pipeline” he added in his caption.
Dremon cooper who was in the video couldn’t hide his excitement either. in his Instagram post, he said “Dreams really do come true!! I had the pleasure of meeting the one and only Lee Daniels. You’re an amazing man filled with great ideas. I can wait to work with you!”
According to news website, Girlfriend, “Dremon Cooper (SuperBitch) is an openly gay personality, who has made a name for himself performing in the LGBTQ ballroom scene and as a crime-fighting hero in pink boots.”
Lee Daniels is not a novice in portraying LGBT characters, his TV shows, Empire and STAR were not lacking in representation of LGBT+ characters.
