Johannesburg prepares for queer women business summit

In partnership with one of the most innovative technology companies today, Uber SA, Queer Women in Business + Allies (QWB+A) will host 200+ attendees, speakers and exhibitors at their 2nd annual summit on 30 November at the Uber campus in Kramerville, Johannesburg. The grand finale for QWB+A events for the year!

As a community of 1000+ queer womxn, trans, non-binaries and supportive allies, Queer Women in Business + Allies’ mission is to empower and advance queer womxn through access. One of the ways in which they do this is through building community and the visibility of thriving queer womxn in business at their summit.

“Through engaging with members of our community, we discovered that queer womxn lack equitable access to business and career opportunities due to intersectional discrimination based on gender and sexual identity. We have also found that there is a lack of safe spaces to network that specifically cater to queer womxn in business. Our annual summit provides an opportunity for our attendees to network, engage in insightful talks and participate in interactive workshops in an inclusive environment without the fear of discrimination.”  QWB+A Directors, Kebone Moloko, Siyabonga Ntuli and Gaopaleloe Mokhitli

The purpose of the summit is to facilitate dialogue and workshop practical ways in which queer womxn entrepreneurs and working professionals can harness the power of technology to take advantage of business and career trends that will help them thrive. We are looking forward to hosting esteemed members of our community and allies such as Sade Giliberti (Media Personality), Jeanne Michel (Executive Producer, Cape Talk), Kwena Mabotja (Director of SAP Next-Gen), Mzamo Masito (Google Director of Marketing) and the Head of Communications at the Ministry of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Ms. Nthabi Mokitimi Dlamini.

Queer womxn, trans and non-binary entrepreneurs, working professionals, students and our supportive allies in attendance will have the opportunity to engage with leaders from leading technology companies such as Google, Uber, Turn Left Media/Linkedin and many more. Individuals and corporate organizations with Diversity and Inclusion initiatives who wish to be positioned at the forefront of attendees’ minds as leading diversity employers are invited to sponsor or partner with us.

Registration is still ongoing here.
