On the 5th of April 2020, South African newspaper, Sunday World, released a news article about South African Actress, Singer, and Song Writer, Letoya Makhene with the heading “Letoya Lesbian Lover Revealed”. The news article not only outed her but also released the name of her girlfriend.
As a response, however, Letoya Makhene did not deny the allegations. But she took a screenshot of the page, tagged her girlfriend, and posted on Instagram with the caption, “Well, it was only a matter of time before the world found out about us. Here’s to our beautiful future together, my love”.
“Being with you really makes me feel peaceful and content. I really don’t want to hear what people have to say. The only thing that matters to me right now is YOU… it’s US,” Her girlfriend tweeted. “I LOVE YOU TOYA,” she added.
According to Pink News, Letoya Makhene had been married to a man with whom she had 2 children, and another man afterwards, with whom she had a child. That was before she met her current girlfriend, Lebo Keswa.
The couple who met in February had a warm welcome into the LGBTQ+ community on twitter as many expressed love for them amidst the homophobic comments.
