10 Queer Podcasts to listen to this PRIDE

In honour of 2020 Pride Month, The Rustin Times has curated a list of Africa-based Queer podcasts. These podcasts explore every single part of the Queer experience, particularly for black people.

You can listen to QueerCity podcast on any of your podcast streaming platforms here.

Hosted by Ericka Hart and Ebony Donnley, they dismantle white supremacy and kiki in the cosmos somewhere between radical hood epistemological black queer love ethics, pop culture, house plants and a sea of books.

  7. 30 Something, Black, and Gay: 30 Something, Black, and Gay is a weekly Podcast co-hosted by 4 friends who are “30 Something, Black, and Gay.” Every week the Co-Hosts tackle breakups, makeups, friendship, online dating, and a plethora of other relevant topics with some celebrity gossip and entertainment news sprinkled throughout. These 4 friends are opinionated, witty, insightful, and best of all a little petty!
Recommended Episode: The truth about loneliness.
  8. Food 4 Thot: Food 4 Thot podcast is a podcast discussing SEX, relationships, race, IDENTITY, what they like to read, & WHO they like to read. The podcast’s conception stemmed from a discussion about how literary and intellectual spaces rarely allowed for conversations about things typically considered—well, not so intellectual. We loved talking about queer theory, identity politics, and Ta-Nehisi Coates, but also Mariah Carey’s Vine account, nail polish, and our absolutely filthiest hook-up stories. In a world where those conversations were so often separated, where could one get both?
Recommended Episode: This Episode is Bringing Sexy Back
  9. The Read: The Read is hosted by Crissle West and Kid Fury. Their weekly podcast covers hip-hop and pop culture’s most trying stars. Throwing shade and spilling tea with a flippant and humorous attitude, no star is safe from Fury and Crissle unless their name is Beyoncé.
Recommended Episode: Nice Niggas for What?
  10. The Pride Diaries: The Pride Diaries explores the lives of Queer Africans.
    Recommended Episode: Coming Out Stories
