PRIDE 2020 All Out

UN-DISTANCED – Celebrate PRIDE 2020 online with All Out

It’s been over 3 months since the coronavirus pandemic upended the lives of everyone across the world. This why several LGBT organisations in over 500 cites of the world have moved Pride celebrations, a month-long list of events to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, a pivotal moment in modern LGBTQ social movements, online.

All Out, a global movement for love and equality, has announced plans to have their PRIDE events online. The month-long line-up of online events tagged UN-DISTANCED. “The power of digital gives us the chance to come together for Pride in spirit, if not with our bodies. It allows us to respect physical distancing, but embrace social and community cohesion. It allows us to celebrate who we are and who we love across borders and cultures,” the UN-DISTANCED official website reads.

UN-DISTANCED is an ongoing virtual Pride festival organized by AllOut featuring panel discussions, book readings, firsthand stories from LGBTQ refugees, a free film screening, and an online dance party. It kicked off on Thursday, June 18 with a book reading at 12 pm ET and will continue with regular events through Friday, July 10.

Some of the panel sessions for UN-DISTANCED include ‘Organising Pride where it is illegal to be gay‘, What PRIDE means to you, Do corporations pink-wash PRIDE?, and ends with the UN-DISTANCED dance party with DJ Gideӧn from London.
