Grindr tops Nigeria

2020 sex and dating trend from Grindr shows that Nigeria ranks high in countries that have the most ‘TOPS’.

Popular social networking and online dating application for gay, bi, trans, and queer people, Grindr, has released their end of the year report, a Snapshot of Sex & Dating on the app in 2020. “We’re giving our users a little something extra to open this holiday season with Grindr Unwrapped, an informal stats report that sheds some light on the year in Grindr activity,” their official statement reads.

Based on the roundup, 5 countries — USA, Brazil, Mexico, India, and the UK — have the biggest proportion of users of the app.

The data released by the networking app also includes the countries with the highest proportions of users that identify as TOPS, BOTTOMS, and VERS.

Morroco, India, Nigeria, Chile, Israel (in that order) are the top 5 countries on the list of countries with the highest proportions of users that identify as TOPS. Vietnam, Sweden, Thailand, Peru, and South Africa (in that order) are the top 5 countries on the list of countries with the highest proportions of users that identify as BOTTOMS. The countries with the highest percentage of users that identify as VERS are Venezuela, Guatemala, Argentina, Mexico, and Australia (in that order).

The report that was released also revealed that the most active time for users worldwide was Sunday evening.

“This data only represents a subsection of our users (not all Grindr users include this information on their profiles), and Grindr itself only represents a subsection of the global queer community. So it’s important to note that this is not meant as a comprehensive or scientific report on global queer sex & dating behaviors,” the statement added. “Instead, it’s meant as a fun and informal way to help our users get to know each other better, serve as an ice-breaker for conversations in the app, and provide some insights into Grindr activity trends from the year.”
