PRIM launches their digital platform aimed at celebrating blackness

For the past 2 years, K Bailey Obazee has been nurturing her passion for storytelling and Black literature to build a platform for her community. It all started with monthly book club link ups which allowed Black queer people to breathe, share, connect and be inspired by words and more importantly each other.

After much grinding, developing and growing, that community dedicated to storytelling has now evolved into a digital storytelling platform — PRIM — and launches today, February 12, 2021. The focus of PRIM is Black storytelling, and their goal is to make stories of African, Caribbean and Afro-Latinx fam accessible to all.

“From a pioneering author’s catalogue and essays to video readings, films, documentaries, narrative podcasts and more, you can find it on PRIM. Stories created and told by us – A Library of Blackness,” their statement reads. “Our audience is growing! Why? It’s simple; we are cultivating a space to connect, learn and grow the stories of Queer Black British fam with queer black communities globally and the community is absolutely here for it.”

You can follow PRIM on their social media channels — Instagram and Twitter — and visit their website to celebrate their launch.

“PRIM is what we need right now. A space to connect, to learn, and to grow the story of US – it’s about the existence of Black people,” their ‘About page’ reads.

“From pieces to read to narrative podcasts and an authors catalogue, PRIM is showcasing the varying mediums used for storytelling, created and told by people we resonate most with,” their statement reads.
