Popular Gay American rapper, Montero Lamar Hill, known as Lil Nas X, shines at MTV’s annual Video Music Awards (VMA) show on Sunday, 13th September 2021. The MTV Video Music Awards (commonly abbreviated as the VMAs) is an award show presented by MTV to honour the best in the music video medium.
Lil Nas X had been nominated under the Video of the Year, Video for Good, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects categories. He won in three of those categories — Video of the Year, Best Direction, and Best Visual Effects. He also performed two of his singles alongside Jack Harlow on the VMAs stage.
“The Montero music video made headlines after its premiere for its depiction of Lil Nas X sliding on a stripper pole to hell, where he proceeds to give Satan a lap dance. The altered Nike Air Max 97 shoes accompanying the song’s release were dubbed the Satan Shoes and caused Nike to file a lawsuit against the company that produced them,” CBS News reports.
Watch Lil Nas X’s performance of Montero and Industry Baby, lead singles from his new album, Montero (out September 17), at the VMAs.
