The United Nations General Assembly organised an LGBTI high level event on “Violence Against LGBTI individuals: Extrajudicial, Summary Or Arbitrary Executions.” The historic event saw the Secretary-General of the United Nations give his first speech on LGBTIQ issues in his tenure.

In her remarks, UN High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet said, “There should be nothing “controversial” about stopping people being murdered, or executed by agents of the State, simply because of who they are or whom they love.”
