‘She’s Not a Boy’ tells Tatenda Ngwaru’s story as an Intersex activist in a riveting and powerful way

Tatenda Ngwaru is one of Africa’s prominent intersex activists currently living in New York City. For years, Ngwaru has led conversations on intersex across the continent and uses her story to discuss intersex issues alongside migration in the United States.

In the short documentary, She’s Not a Boy, chronicles Ngwaru’s journey from Zimbabwe to New York and shows how she navigates life. It is from the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting and it premiered on The Atlantic. It is part of The Atlantic Selects, an online showcase of short documentaries from independent creators, curated by The Atlantic.
