As a continuation of our Pride Month Special where we highlight some important work by Queer black people, we will be focusing on the Queer Vloggers. Through their youtube vlogs, these voices have taken us on a journey through their lives, their experiences, and their queerness.

Here is a list of Black LGBT Vlogs that you should add to your YouTube watch playlist.

  1. Black Queer Love: Black Queer Love is an online docu-series on Queer South-African couples. The channel seeks to tell the rarely told stories about black queer love. The channel is interested in finding how, despite the condemnation, misunderstanding, ridicule, and just the general demands of everyday life, some black and queer couples make this love thing work. They also focus on how couples found (and continue to find) comfort and love in each other, how they dealt (and still deal) with homophobia, family dynamics, infidelity, distance, etc.

  2. Amara, the lesbian: Amara is a Nigerian lesbian who vlogs about the intersection of her sexuality, her relationships and her nationality. Recently, her vlogs have featured her girlfriend, where they feature all the goofiness, joy, and love that comes with relationships.

  3. TCHHNNH: Tochi Hannah defines their channel as a safe space. On the channel, Tochi Hannah explores all the possible topics; from polyamory, cooking, open relationships, to African parents! With guests coming in and messages being received from all over, Tochi Hannah focuses on topics one may not necessarily feel comfortable discussing with family or those in their immediate circle. All whilst getting advice/opinions from a Nigerian who respects culture and tradition but is also living in the present.

  4. Ike Ntanzi: Ike Ntanzi is a South-African YouTuber. On his channel, he explores sexuality, race, homophobia, sex, and how to hookup right!

  8. Blvck Queer TV: Blvck Queer TV is an entertainment company which was birthed by Banzi Mavuso a professional Filmmaker and musician, through her past company Queers on Smash in 2016. They amplify black lgbtq+ voices through content production and to entertain through various mediums: Films, podcasts & events. They hope to define their own culture and to uplift members of the South African LGBT community. Their content pieces explore themes such as healing, overcoming trauma, living your best life and promoting black queer talent in Mzansi.
