Hulu renews Love Victor for second season

Hulu renews Love, Victor for a second season

After a successful first season, Hulu has announced that ‘Love, Victor‘ will be getting a second season. The first season, a sequel to the 2018 coming-of-age drama ‘Love, Simon‘, was released on the 17th of June 2020 in 10 episodes.

The official twitter account of the series made the announcement on Friday, August 7th, 2020.

The storyline for the second season is still vague for now, however, there have been hints about what will be explored in the second season.  “I think it’s okay to say that right now, the writers’ room is discussing a storyline where a straight character and an LGBT character are anxious about possibly losing their virginity over the same weekend,” co-showrunner, Brian Tanen told TV Line in June.

There is also the impact of Victor’s coming out on his relationship with his parents, his relationship with Mia, and his relationship with Benji. “If season 1 is the story of a young person figuring out who they are and what they want, season 2 can be all the exciting things that happen next: first love, first relationship, first sexual experiences,” Tanen told TVLine.

“We’ve set up so many relationships that are going to be affected by a coming-out. And so what Victor and Mia have, for example, is really a best friendship, but what happens when she realizes that she was in a completely different relationship with Victor than he was with her? And here we have a young student-athlete who is suddenly going to be out, and how does that ripple across that traditionally macho world of athletics in high school? I just feel like there’s so many places for our story to go in Season 2, and it’s really fun to start thinking about and writing the story of someone who is finally starting to live their authentic life,” Brian Tanen told TV Guide.

There is no definite date yet for the release of the second season of Love, Victor. According to the exclusive on ELLE, the pandemic has affected production in a lot of ways. Shooting for the second season still depends on safety guidelines and how much the pandemic permits.
