We Don’t Live Here Anymore is the 2018 LGBT feature film by TIERs. Written by Noni Salma, the movie tells the story of two teenage boys in Prominence high school; Tolu Bajulaiye and Chidi Egwuonwu who find themselves embroiled in a high stake scandal that could alter the course of their future.
The film stars some of Nigeria’s top actors; Funlola Aofiyebi Raimi, Katherine Obiang, Osas Ighodaro Ajibade, Francis Sule, Temidayo Akinboro and Omotunde ‘Lolo’ Adebowale-David. Directed and produced by Tope Oshin (New Money, Shuga), it takes the audience through the emotional journey of two families forced to confront ‘taboo’ issues and navigate their realities in the society, with an in-depth look at violence, discrimination, and the many struggles faced by persons in the LGBT community.
After it’s premiere on 14th October, the movie fast gained popularity particularly among the LGBTQ community and bagged 11 nominations in 10 award categories by the Best of Nollywood Awards (BON Awards); an annual film event presented by Best of Nollywood Magazine honouring outstanding achievement in the Nigerian Movie Industry.
Of the 11 nominations, We don’t live here anymore clinched 5 awards for Best Movie Editing, Best Director, Most Promising Actor (for both Francis Sule and Temidayo Akinboro) and the most coveted Movie of the Year. The awards were presented at the 2018 BON Awards Ceremony held at the Kakanfo Conference Centre, Ibadan on Saturday 8th December.
